Love can be find anywhere in any city if you just look for it enough. That’s what I felt when I asked Josefine and Ingrid if I could shoot some picture of them, and luckily they both agreed.
It was the end of my day and I was just walking around and hoping to find someone or somebody for a picture, but somehow I always have to find my courage first and this time was one of those moments. Because Josefine and Ingrid was my “targets” but they were having a conversation and I as a stranger didn’t wanted to interrupt, but I just couldn’t hold myself back ;P. And I glad I didn’t cause they showed me their friendship and that just made my day.
Thanks ! :)
First time I met Laoshi (teacher) was when he was singing at the hostel I stayed in, in China and all the songs he was singing was those classic old-schools (radio road songs in the old days). Everybody at the hostel was calling him Laoshi and it just stock to me to, I didn’t really thought about what his real name was. Since it’s more polite not to ask for it, and that Laoshi is a elder gentleman, so I just went with flow.
how Laoshi became a good friend and a teacher of mine was when he was cooking. I was sitting in the outdoor cafeteria and suddenly the sensation of his cooking brought me to him, and he casually just invited me to cook with him the day after, which I of course did plus the rest my of the trip. I got so inspired both cooking with Laoshi and hearing his background story about his life and how he had to move to mainland China to work, since he couldn’t find any job for 18 years in Taiwan. Not only was he a amazing singer and cook, he also told me that he was a classic horse painter (picture below) who he took after his father. I realize that Laoshi is a man of multi talents with lots of knowledge, and all I could do was to give all my gratitude to him while I was there cause I learned a lot from him, and some day I will visit him again.
ohh yeah his name is Yeh Fei Pai
It was the end of the day and after the golden hours my fingers was cold and the camera was packed down in my bag, my stomach told me to go and get some food, so basically I was done. But here is thing… I was looking for the last picture then I would have been happy for the day. Then I saw a guy with a 60’s kind of style. It was like time travelling when I saw him, so I went to him and asked “excuse me sir can I take a picture of you?” and I got denied which was super sad… I continued my hunt for food with my partner instead, and then the most amazing thing happened. My partner saw this couple on the way out from the metro and she told me to ask them for the last picture of the day.
It was an truly amazing moment taking pictures of them, they showed me love, power and beauty. I felt so grateful and the day just ended smooth. I learned that when you are looking for a moment or expect it to come to you – sometimes you will get blinded from it. Often it’s just better to let it happen itself or let someone you trust to see it for you.
What to you think?
I know I know, it’s another photo with the cherry trees… maybe that’s what you are thinking when you see these pictures, but… here is the thing. As a photographer or a photo lover, we always want to find the perfect composition before the shoot. That’s what makes you a photographer, to deliver a different version of many others and it’s a challenge from time to time – especially in the common places, but that’s what makes it so much more fun to give that extra to do better. In the end what matters is that you are satisfied
This beautiful lady here is Isa, my very own partner in crime. We wanted to see the cherry blossom together that day, but as always there was a lot of people who wanted the same as us and who can blame them. The trees only bloom once a year and as beautiful as it was as difficult was it to share with others, but of course it didn’t hold us back to find the perfect picture.
But a question to you people who read this, how to you find your compositions?
I got the Idea of Project Share 4 days ago because of a good day’s shooting. I was offering on Facebook to shoot free portraits who ever was in the city they could just contact me. Because I was there for street photography anyway, and then my buddy Sebastian wrote to me and we met up and explored the city together for a while until we split up and continued our day…
I asked Sebastian a random question. “Adidas or Nike?”
He answered “if I was dancing I would choose Adidas because the soles is nice, and right amount of slippery.” :P
This is Jamicheal from the U.S who was visiting the cold city of Stockholm, sharing this beautiful smile of his.
